Artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of the main drivers for the development of cutting-edge technologies that are impacting society at different levels [1-3]. To harness the benefits of AI, while mitigating the risks, governments are developing National Strategies, seeking geopolitical protagonism and leveraging economic, social and cultural progress [4]. Launched in 2017, the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy [5] was the first national strategy with the goal of guiding the priorities of AI policy at the country level [6]. Finland also developed its national AI strategy in 2017, closely followed by Japan, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in 2018.

National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Announced In United Kingdom - AI Summary

Having recently announced the launch of the new UK Cyber Security Council, the UK government has followed up by announcing its plans to publish a new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (the AI Strategy) later this year. The aim of the AI Strategy is to build on the United Kingdom's position as a global center for the development, commercialization, and adoption of responsible AI. The UK is already a world leader in this revolutionary technology and the new AI Strategy will help us seize its full potential--from creating new jobs and improving productivity to tackling climate change and delivering better public services." The intention is for the AI Strategy to align with the UK government's overall plans to support jobs and economic growth through increased investment in infrastructure, skills, and innovation. The AI Council published the AI Roadmap in January this year, which set out a number of recommendations to the government on harnessing the power of AI, including recommending the establishment of a nationwide AI strategy. How countries are leveraging computing power to achieve their national artificial intelligence strategies

#artificialintelligence

Using finely tuned hardware, a specialized network, and large data storage, supercomputers have long been used for computationally intense projects that require large amounts of data processing. With the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, there is an increasing demand for these powerful computers and, as a result, processing power is rapidly increasing. As such, the growth of AI is inextricably linked to the growth in processing power of these high-performing devices. The term appeared in the late 1920s and the CDC 6600 (released in 1964) is generally considered to be the first true supercomputer. Early supercomputers used only a few extremely powerful processors but, in the late 1990s, computer experts realized that stringing together thousands of off-the-shelf processors would yield the greatest processing power.

The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2021-2025) is prepared by the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, taking the opinions of other stakeholders in order to determine a roadmap for the studies carried out in the field of artificial intelligence ("AI") in Turkey. Within this scope, Circular numbered 2021/18 on the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy ("Circular") was published in the Official Gazette dated 20 August 2021 and numbered 31574, and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Document ("Strategy") on Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency's website on 24 August 2021. It has been decided to establish a "National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Steering Committee" ("Steering Committee") with the participation of the Head of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology in order to develop policies at the national level, disseminate the use of artificial intelligence technologies and monitor the applications within this scope. The Steering Committee will convene at least once every three months and may form sub-committees, advisory and working groups when it deems necessary. The vision is determined as generating value on a global scale with an agile and sustainable AI ecosystem for Turkey.

Turkey rolls out strategic artificial intelligence road map

#artificialintelligence

Turkey is drawing a road map for its strategy in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), which can be defined as the realization of actions such as making decisions, discovering meaning and learning in dynamic environments specific to intelligent creatures, by a computer or a computer-controlled machine. Accordingly, the Presidential Circular on the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2021-2025 was published Friday in the Official Gazette. The document was prepared by the Presidency's Digital Transformation Office and the Industry and Technology Ministry in line with the 11th Development Plan. The country's priorities in the field and the steps to be taken were determined within the framework of the "Digital Turkey" and "National Technology Move" visions. Digital Turkey aims for a globally competitive Turkey with the increase in productivity it provides by using digital technology, products and services in its social, economic and public activities and the value it generates from data.
